The Who, What, Where, When, & Why

WHO SHOULD TAKE A COOKIE CLASS

You don’t need to be “artsy” or have any baking background to join. Whether you’re looking for a night out with friends, a date night idea, a team building activity, or just a fun way to try something new, you’ll feel right at home. I’ve had everyone from complete beginners to seasoned bakers in my classes, and every single person leaves proud of what they created.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN MY TICKET PRICE?

Each class includes all the cookies, icing, tools, and practice sheets you’ll need. I’ll guide you through step-by-step instructions with live demos so you can follow along and feel confident as you decorate. You’ll also receive a take home tray for your finished cookies, along with helpful storage tips. Most importantly, the class is designed to be a fun, relaxed atmosphere where you can sip and enjoy creating something sweet.

WHERE/WHEN DO COOKIE CLASSES TAKE PLACE

Classes are held at a variety of local Connecticut venues — from cozy breweries and vineyards to community spaces around Newtown and nearby towns. Each class lasts about 2 hours and includes everything you need to decorate right on site.

WHY SHOULD I TAKE A COOKIE DECORATING CLASS

Because life’s too short not to play with icing and learn something new! These classes are designed to help you slow down and be creative while learning a new skill. You’ll leave not only with beautiful cookies, but with the confidence and know how to keep decorating at home — plus memories that are just as sweet.

How We Begin

One of the first things I teach is how to properly hold and control a piping bag. We go over a few comfortable ways to grip it and how to position your hand to keep the icing flowing smoothly. Once you master that, everything else starts to click, and decorating becomes so much easier.

Practicing Outlining and Flooding

Before we dive straight into cookies, we warm up on customized practice sheets. Think of them like handwriting worksheets, but sweeter. You’ll trace lines, curves, and shapes to build muscle memory. Practicing on paper first takes away the nerves, so when it’s time to decorate, you’ll already have the motions down.

Step by Step

Every class is taught step by step. I use a document camera that projects my hands and the cookies onto a TV, so you can see exactly what I’m doing in real time—outlining, flooding, adding details, all of it. No squinting or worrying that you’ll miss something.

From Outline to Flood

We always start with outlining your cookie, which sets the shape and keeps your icing in place. Then we move to flooding, which is what gives cookies that smooth, professional look. I’ll show you tricks to pop air bubbles, avoid craters, and get that satisfying glossy finish.

Adding the Fun Details

Once your base layers are set, we move on to the fun details—adding texture, eyes, lines, and other finishing touches that bring your cookies to life. I break each design down into simple, manageable steps so you’re never overwhelmed. And since every class has its own theme, your cookies all come together into a cohesive (and totally Instagram worthy) set.

Hands-on Help

One of my favorite parts of teaching is walking around the room to offer one on one help. Maybe your icing feels too runny, or your line wobbled a little—don’t worry, I’ll be right there with tips and tricks. Everyone learns at their own pace, and I make sure you leave with cookies you’re proud of.
